I keep running into people from my past.
"Hi I'm LUKE. Thank you for allowing me to serve you today." says the receipt from Walgreens from a few mondays ago. I used my card to buy penut butter, face wash, eardrops, lunch for tuesday, and granola bars. Luke goes to give me the receipt to sign but hesitates and looks at it again before putting it down. I figure something is wrong and look up at him when he says, "Do you remember me? .........from elementry school?" It took a long time to register that there was nothing wrong with my card. He looked vaguely fermiliar but I didn't recognise him, but I acted it up like, "Oh, Yeah! How's it going? What are you doing now? You know, besides working here." He said he was working to save up for college. We both did the "Great to see you line" because there were more costomers and I left. I didn't figure out who it was until I got to my car. It was only my BEST FRIEND from First through Fourth grade! I can't believe it had been 9 years since I had seen him last. it makes me feel so old. I am just kicking myself for screwing up that little reunion. When I got home I dug out the old pictures of us, and started planning my next trip to Walgreens and what I would say. I feel I knew this chain of events would happen. De-Ja-Vu from a dream a few years ago.
Another happened closer to now. Another best friend from my past called me up and invited me to dinner. We had been peas in a pod when we were in Montessori together. I hadn't seen or heard from her in about 4 years, and there was much reminiscing over a home cooked meal. All about those we had known and where they are now; about the clay city we made and the soap operas that went on in it; about playing Soul Calliber on Dreamcast, or watching Kevin Kosner is Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. Talk of that movie made us want to watch it, which we did with much laughter at how cheezy it is now. one of the running jokes circled around the treehouses they made in sherwood forest, we started calling it Swiss Family Robin Hood. lol. some how the topic of convirsation (massage) started with Becca saying early in the evening, "So I hear you are in Massage School now. I just had to laugh when I heard that, because I have known sence 4th grade that that is what you would do." she knew before I did. She must have senced it. I had always been good a backrubs, but who knew I would make a career out of it? she did.
I love doing it. It is just so fulfilling to go home at the end of the day and know that you made a difference in someone's day. I don't gripe or complain about it, because I don't really see anything to complain about even though there are plenty around me who find more than enough to complain about doing massage like: "ewwwwwwww that last guy was so hairy!" or "that woman's feet stunk!". I guess stuf doesn't bother me as much as it does them. Every(body) needs to be loved. My message to those is this: If you are not completely happy doing it, then don't do it. Why be in a school that specializes in massage if you don't want to give massages? enjoy it while it lasts, besides there are many perks to this job.
well that is enough for now.
pictures soon.
